As of October 23rd, 2017, Council has adopted the revised Brookswood-Fernridge Community Plan after it passed 3rd reading.
The residents have been heavily involved in the creation/reviewing process since the Council initiated the planning process in 2016. With a finalized community plan in place, more certainty is created for developers by defining future land uses and requirements for proposed projects.
NEXT STEPS:
Just like any community plan, the next step in the process is to define the individual neighbourhood plans which are speculated to be completed in 2018. The community plan has been separated into 4 proposed NCP's;Â Booth, Fernridge, Rinn and Glenwood, with all but the latter being slated for planning immediately. Before any further planning is discussed, an in-depth environmental and topographical study will be completed in order to protect Brookswood's abundant natural resources and ecosystems. For many residents in Brookswood, maintaining the treasured landscape is a huge concern as development nears. Studies such as these are seen as a huge win for those who so strongly opposed the plan.
